Dharma Drum Youth Singapore Enviromental Day (20 June 09')
How will you feel when a heap of rubbish lies awaiting for you at the beach? Perhaps then, you will wonder how come there is a lot of rubbish at East Coast Park and who have contributed to these rubbish.
On 20 June 09' morning, we gathered at East Coast Park for coastal clean-up. Esther from the Singapore Environment Council kindly gave us an educational talk on environment. Many of us are familiar with the 3Rs- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Esther introduced to the 4th R, which is Remember! This is important since we always tend to forget to carry out the other 3Rs. Fion from Dharma Drum Youth Singapore also gave us a talk on "having a peaceful and pure mind"(心灵环保).
The amount of effort that we put in during the coastal clean-up was definitely not enough. Everyone should constantly play a part in protecting our mother Earth.
After coastal clean-up, we had a sharing session. Everyone spoke of their clean-up experience and shared thoughts on keeping the beach clean.
How time flies. It was time to pack up and head for home. Before we were dismissed, group photo is not something to be missed!
